Drinking Now Allowed On Certain Beach Areas During Spring Break

There’s been a breakthrough with regards to the No Drinking Ordinance during Spring Break in Panama City Beach. Drinking alcohol on portions of Shell Island will be legal in March once again.

A vote to exclude Shell Island from the Beaches Area concerning the alcohol regulation has been made and it will be legal to drink alcohol on private lots and county roads under the county’s jurisdiction in the middle of the island.

That was not the case last year, when the commission passed a law banning the consumption of alcohol in March in the county’s Beaches Area Special Treatment Zone, which is the unincorporated area of the Beach that includes Shell Island.

There are numerous tour boats that take passengers to Shell Island, including a Shell Island Shuttle that runs the short distance between mainland St. Andrews State Park and the island.

Spring Breakers may be given the opportunity to participate in an organized cruise, bringing groups to and from Shell Island, with no ban on alcohol consumption.

For those unfamiliar with Shell Island, it is a favorite spot for locals and visitors, comprised of  sand dunes, coastal forests, and a majestic inland lake, providing the perfect sanctuary for deer, birds, sea turtles, and other coastal creatures. Shell Island is also a terrific spot to watch Dolphins play within their own habitat.
